Originally written in 1963 by legendary timpanist, Vic Firth of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, “The Solo Timpanist” includes 26 etudes for two to four drums. Each etude includes a very informative introduction indicating sticking, muffling, tuning and other musical suggestions. Not only is “The Solo Timpanist” a popular method for college percussion audition lists, it also is used on all-state audition lists throughout the United States.
